My
name is Vicky Fritz (for the ones that are new) and I’m in charge of
Kentucky Speedway for this year, along with Susan Corman as co-chair for Boone County Band.
I
also want to give you a little information about working at Kentucky
Speedway. For each race, we call each person that signed up to work for that race to see if they are
still interested and available. Once we receive the actual number of positions needed to fill,
we go through the list of available volunteers and assign the positions. You are not guaranteed to work until we contact you again with your schedule.
The first couple races are small and not as many positions are needed for
these. The start time may change as we get closer to the event date. The change may be due to scheduling modifications made by DJ's and Kentucky Speedway. We will then make
any additional necessary changes. Last year it was extremely hard to get the number of adult volunteers we needed to fill. If you have friends or family that would be willing to work for
you, please have them take both training sessions. Once they have taken the necessary training, please contact
Vicky or Susan so they can be added to the list of volunteers. Realize they will be working for your student and moneys are
deposited in your students account.
If you are scheduled to work, we will contact you the week before the scheduled event to make arrangements
for picking up your employee credentials and parking pass. Not everyone will be able to get parking
pass so we may have to car pull. If you are car pooling, we ask
everyone to pay the driver $2-3 for gas. You
may bring a packed lunch in a small cooler, you will receive a coupon for
2 hotdogs, chips and drink. You will be able to drink as much water
or pop and you may also bring your own any size cup with lid.
Training is conducted via the DJ's website on the
Internet. See information below. If
you work and you have not taken the training, you will be docked in
pay. This is a rule by Speedway. Time cards are to be filled
out correctly. If you do not state you are an adult working, you
will be assumed as student pay. Everyone
is required to complete an on-line training video and test for concession and alcohol, however if you do not want to be placed
in an alcohol booth, you do not need to complete the alcohol training. If you choose to work alcohol, it is to your advantage to
complete both concession and alcohol training as there are not as many slots for alcohol as there is for concession. There are
occasions when
volunteers may need to be moved at a last minute to fill another vacancy.
At the end of each video is a test that will need to be completed. You can not work until training has been
completed. After completing the test(s), please email or phone me
telling me you have completed the training and if it was for concession only or both. I will then
contact DJ’s to verify they have received your test. To
